Aliens Movie - "Get Away from her, you bitch!"

ChaosEngine says...

I have to say... I am not a fan of the sentry gun scene.

They're an undeniably cool bit of colonial marine tech, but I think they reduce the aliens to force of numbers.

I know I'm probably in the minority on this one, but I really don't like any of the changes in the special edition.
- Ripley being told about her daughter makes her reaction to newt predictable.
- seeing the colony before the marines arrive gives away what happened (although given the title, I guess this is kinda obvious)

Mostly though Aliens is already a pretty long movie (137m) and the extra scenes just don't add much.

In conclusion, no should change the things I like and you're all either too old or too young. get off my lawn.

THANK YOU!!! I remember the sentry guns, and thought I was going senile because I never saw them again...

Star Wars Battlefront Reveal Trailer

Game engine footage from a pc with 4 x titan x with the loadscreens edited out.

Still I guess something had to make Aliens: Colonial Marine's trailer look less like a lie.

"In-engine footage" my backside!

Why do they always have to lie to our faces about this stuff? That's clearly been post processed to the point where it may as well be pre rendered CGI. (If that's really how the pre alpha/alpha build looks then DIce have mastered witchcraft which seems unlikely)

You'd think after all the butt hurt over Colonial marine and Watch doge's etc......

....then again I'm totally going to end up buying it anyway........

Alien Queen Chestburster Alien 3 - studioADI

That's a great link! I agree 100% with the argument he provided about this film. While 20th Century Fox will say Colonial Marines is "canon" I'm not really a believer, after all if Resurrection is canon, I revoke their canon-giving ability. I guess I agree about the score, it actually has some good themes to it. While Horner's and Goldsmith's scores are good as well in their own ways, they are much more atmospheric.

Yeah, I think Alien 3 is really underrated. It's by no means as good as the first two,but it was an overall good horror film (with IMO the best score of all the films) and a great, dark wrap up to the Ripley story. And the least said about Alien Resurrection, the better.

BTW, I think that Colonial Marines is supposed to be canon

Yeah I know David Fincher doesn't want squat to do with Alien3, hence the quotes. However, if I recall properly, the assembly cut was advertised as being much more in line with Fincher's original thoughts for the project than the truncated version that ended up in theaters. I think the assembly cut makes this much underrated film more interesting by a significant margin. This movie reeks of death, decay, and the feelings of loss and search for meaning that accompanies death. If it was the last film I really think it could have found a following as correctly ending the series instead of that awful Alien Resurrection. *GAG*

Two things I wish would be fixed though are 1) The horribly composited alien (it looks like bad CG, but it is just badly composited) and 2) Why an alien egg was brought on board the Sulaco. It is just too much of a leap of faith to believe the queen laid it. (supposed to be somewhat explained by the upcoming alien colonial marines game, but that's not really canon or a fix to the existing film).

Anyways, back on topic. What I find interesting is that they had a "full" model of the queen chestburster with legs and tail.

What "David Fincher cut"? You're not talking about the extended cut on the Quadrilogy box set (it's the only other cut I've heard about)? Because Fincher had nothing to do with that.

But that's my preferred version too

Aliens Colonial Marines E3 Demo Walkthrough

Coming this fall... (Blog Entry by jwray)

I've not yet checked out any previews for Civ5 (I know I know, an affront to fellow strategy gamers and my early years playing Civ1), but I'm definitely looking forward to it, and SC2 hype is a given (it's currently slated for July, btw). Having said that, screw WOW and screw the Harry Potter movie. While both are appealing to the masses, I'd hardly call them quality products in their genres (I'd say that WOW is polished and generating an assload of revenue for Bobby fucking Kotick, sure, but like many MMORPGs it operates on an immoral foundation (grinding) not unlike that of Farmville, therefore I can't condone it).

Now entertainment-wise, I'm hyped for to Episode 3 of HL2, which just *might* be coming out this holiday season, Crysis 2, and Aliens: Colonial Marines. As far as movies currently set for a fall release go, I'm looking forward to Red and Tron Legacy.

Aliens vs Predator - Killmoves Trailer

I can't even list my expectations and hopes for this title.

After the inglorious fuckup that was Rogue Warrior pretty much the whole reputation of Rebellion as a studio rests on the success of this game;
also, there is rumor (which makes sense) that the fate of Gearbox's Aliens: Colonial Marines which is supposedly finally due this year and is also published by SEGA will be sealed by the results of AvP; and I can't even begin to describe how much it would suck if a Gearbox project which was penned by Battlestar Galactica writers was canceled.

At least so far the promotional stuff looks promising. Here's hoping the end result won't disappoint.

Looking forward to in Q1-2 of 2009 (PC): Prototype, Braid, Velvet Assassin, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Trine, Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Burnout Paradise, Borderlands, Bionic Commando, Dragon Age: Origins, Tom Clancy's HAWX.
The better part of these really ought to arrive in 2009, even if delayed. Some have solid release dates set for Feb, as far as I can remember.
