Today’s MAGA vote fraud….

Illegally sent how many stolen active military ballots to which Republican Senator in a secret under the table on her own free time “exposure of election insecurity”, problem being they didn’t expose it when they thought they had been successful, only when they got caught with the ballots did the “exposing insecurities” nonsense excuse come up.
Also, what about the active military that had their votes stolen, even if they weren’t cast? Their ballot was stolen making it impossible for them to vote. Hard to reconcile stealing military votes for some secret investigation that remained secret after producing the “proof” they wanted (but in reality they only proved that people trying this scheme, even with top level access and authority were still unsuccessful and were caught)

Wait and see…how many of those ballots were mailed in filled out for republicans? Right now, it could be thousands, or none at all. I know which I predict. It’s MAGA, so think the worst, then double down.

So *this* must be what it's like to have free time.

I wonder what kind of camera they were able to use for this. Couldn't be a GoPro because of the size/weight, right? Hmm.

I don't have time today, but if memory serves, ar4 temperature/ sea level prediction was 30-60% higher than ar3, ar5 less of a change, but still higher than ar4, and yesterday it went up another 10% with the intermediate report, expected to rise again in the 2021 report. I found it by accident and can't find it this morning, and I'm out of free time already today.

It's the factual, scientifically likely outcome. There is no "right" approach, indeed there's no working solution at all.

Yes, different again on two NOAA sites. They don't make it easy to find and compare accurately reported data.

I meant it was odd because they listed the 2018 data as if it was the highest readings, I understand it's not a constant rise.

@newtboy,

"Stupid to use all these differing sets, that only adds confusion to an already technical and confusing topic."

I'm just glad they stick to metric, with sea level rise you don't even get that .

"No matter what, it's incontrovertible that every iteration of the IPCC reports has drastically raised their damage estimates (temp, sea level) and sped up the timetable from the previous report."

At least temperature wise the AR1 report had higher temperatures, and definitely higher worst case projection scenarios for temp than the latest. I can't say I checked their sea level projections, though typically they're other projections have followed on using their temps as the baseline for the other stuff and thus they track together. That is to say, if you can point me a source that reliably claims otherwise I might go check, but currently what I have checked tells me otherwise.

"I'll take the less conservative NOAA estimates and go farther to assume they over estimate humanity and underestimate feedback loops and unknowns and believe we are bound to make it worse than they imagine."

Which is fine, I only object if that gets characterized as the factually scientific 'right' approach.

"The NOAA .83C number was compared to average annual global temperatures 1901-2000...and oddly enough is lower than 2017's measurements."

Which is yet another source and calibration period from what I found. The 1901-2000 very, very roughly speaking can be thought of as centered on 1950, so in that fuzzy feeling sense not surprising it's 0C is colder than the IPCC centered on the nineties.

The source on current instrumental I went against is below:
https://climate.nasa.gov/vital-signs/global-temperature/

As for 2018 being cooler than 2017, that's pretty normal. 1996/1997 were the hottest years on record for a pretty long time before things swung back up. It's entirely possible we stay below the recent high years for another bunch of years before continuing to creep up. Same as a particularly cold day isn't 'evidence', the decadal and even century averages are where the signal comes out of the noise.

AOC Exposes The Dark Side - "Let's Play A Game"

Exactly

For these people, it's not about "how am I gonna pay my X bill on time? I better do something corrupt"

It's more like
"I want more X Y Z in my life. I want more free time. I'll pay someone to do X for me so I'll just have more free time to do with what I please."
It's freedom.

Oroville Spillways Phase 2 Update October 10, 2018

You live in FL?

I live in FL. My work requires me to wear a tie and dress jacket.

I get a lot free time but I have a short leash. I am on call 24 hrs. a day, 6 days a week.

Sometimes my job requires me to walk in the heat or rain to retrieve a dead body out of the woods or an open field or out on the Interstate.

All I know is, no matter the conditions here, it's better than Jersey.

Fine, as long as that score takes effort required to achieve that score into account.

A poor inner city kid with a single parent living in public housing, working a job, raising a sibling must be more intelligent and harder working by far to achieve the same score as a kid in Los Altos Hills with top rated schools (including programs designed to help them on the specific test), a large stable and safe home with servants, tons of free time, tutors, and the ability to just pay someone to take the test. If the former scores 1500 and the latter 1510, you would take the latter, obviously the lesser student. This is usually (not invariably) a function of race. Ignoring that is a form of racism...call it racism once removed.

Being happy has nothing to do with money (or drugs)

entr0py says...

Exactly, and the title doesn't really do justice to what he's saying.
The question he's exploring is, once you have your financial needs met, why go any further?

In my free time I do usually opt to be entertained. But this guy chooses to be challenged even when there's no pressing need to be. I can see why that's more satisfying in the end.

ChaosEngine said:

Agreed. There have been numerous studies that show that happiness DOES increase with wealth.... up to a point.

Basically, struggling to buy food, pay rent, etc can make life miserable, but once you've got that covered more money won't necessarily make you happier.

In conclusion, money can't buy happiness but it can buy beer/mountain bikes/snowboards/holidays.

Bob, you and the Russians played your hand. It's clearly obvious that you are simply a troll. Imagine, a real right wing nutjob like you pretend to be, spending all his free time trolling what he calls a liberal snowflake website talking with liberals. Imagine, a person with enough knowledge to bring up historical politics, but ignorant enough to ignore and deny the Southern strategy and any other thing that might contradict your ridiculous, ignorant stances.
Imagine, an American right wing nutjob that accidentally blames Americanski for voting for people who block gun legislations....apparently forgetting which side he's supposed to be on in this culture war he's fostering.

I know you see it, it's your job, Dimitri.

But rather you side lives in the dark. Liberals are foolish and wrong in their progressive ideas. These ideas only server to demoralize/ tear down/ destroy society.

Sadly you are so deep in the dark that you don't see it.

"Alternative Math" - The confusing times we live in

bremnet says...

Thank you for taking the time to lay this all out and provide links to the curriculum, I appreciate it. As a Canadian abroad, I had heard that some of the requirements were going a bit sideways, and down here in Texas the schools are a bit of a mixed bag as well, but your situation is worse (my wife teaches Algebra and Calculus at the junior high). Just "Wow" ... I have no words. I feel sorry for the poor kids who are smart enough to know the answer in their head, but are forced to spend their progressively fewer hours of free time to figure out this bullshit.

Thanks again.

bcglorf said:

@drradon: I agree with you 100% on teaching both and teaching basic arithmetic first and then leading on to proper math once that foundation is established.

@dannym3141,

I was first blindsided by it when my kids came home with multiplication homework and were adamant they couldn't answer it the way I was showing them because it would be marked wrong, it was the wrong way to do multiplication.

The link to the full Manitoba math curriculum is below. The worst sections are under 'Mental Math' with the idea being that you should be able to add/subtract/multiply/divide all numbers in your head with a dozen pages worth of tricks. The tricks being what newtboy was calling 'proofs'. Our curriculum calls them 'techniques' though and I've included an example from the Grade 3 curriculum verbatim after of how it is supposed to be 'taught'.

Overall Math curriculum:
http://www.edu.gov.mb.ca/k12/cur/math/index.html

Grade 3 example:
http://www.edu.gov.mb.ca/k12/cur/math/support_gr3/number.pdf

From page 56:
Describe a mental mathematics strategy that could be used to determine a given basic fact, such as
-doubles (e.g., for 6 + 8, think 7 + 7)
-doubles plus one (e.g., for 6 + 7, think 6 + 6 + 1)
-doubles take away one (e.g., for 6 + 7, think 7 + 7 – 1)
-doubles plus two (e.g., for 6 + 8, think 6 + 6 + 2)
-doubles take away two (e.g., for 6 + 8, think 8 + 8 – 2)
-making 10 (e.g., for 6 + 8, think 6 + 4 + 4 or 8 + 2 + 4)
-commutative property (e.g., for 3 + 9, think 9 + 3)
-addition to subtraction (e.g., for 13 – 7, think 7 + ? = 13)."

Now before you think me and observe there's nothing wrong with showing kids some extra tricks to help them, that is NOT how this is supposed to be used. If you read further, students are REQUIRED to "explore" multiple methods of calculating answers and must demonstrate they know and can use all these 'tricks'. So instead of providing assistance for difficult calculations as it should be, it's used to make ALL calculations difficult, and create extra work, AND makes kids just learning the concept completely overwhelmed with everything you MUST know to get a right answer to 2+2=4.

And here's the link to the Grade 11 review of the basic arithmetic:
http://www.edu.gov.mb.ca/k12/cur/math/ess_mm_gr11/full_doc.pdf

And for the Grade 11 students and teaching them to add/subtract/multiply and divide, the teacher's guide describes this like a subjective discovery process with quotes like this:
"Consequently, mental calculation activities should include periods for thought and discussion.
During these periods, the teacher should encourage students to
-suggest a variety of possible solutions to the same problem
-explain the different methods used to come to the correct answer and their
effectiveness
-explain the thought process that led to an incorrect answer"

An important note is we are not talking about solving complex word problems here or anything, but specifically for calculating a basic arithmetic operation with the different methods being those described from back in Grade 3 already outlined above.

Dems Double Down On Taking Billionaire Money

bobknight33 says...

The "justice democrats" is Unconstitutional in most of its platform. Hence its just a nut job dream. The TEA party desire to follow the Constitution. This in itself would limit government size and hence its corruption.

All corporate money should be taken out of politics. - Or at least cap corporate giving to a small amount say $2500. Some amount equal to what the average person/family could give.

Or better yet I would rather, since government control media via FCC Have media give equal FREE time to each candidate.

enoch said:

i really do not understand you bob.
i get that you are republican, and lean towards the philosophy of the tea party.

i have absolutely no issue with that, but didn't you admonish my post which was promoting the "justice democrats" as not being a grass roots anti-corporate establishment democrats, but rather a tool for outlets like the young turks? whose FIRST order to address.the FIRST thing they are going after is:money in politics.which is exactly what kyle is talking about.

kyle is also talking about giving the boot to not only all the corporate donors, but the very politicians that have LOST,consistently, because they are more interested in dialing for donors than doing their job.pelosi did not retain her position due to her political acumen and ability to pass progressive legislature, but because that woman is a money funding machine.

kyle even mentions the justice democrats!!!!
as a viable option to combat the corruption in the democratic party due to the corrosive influence of corporate money in politics.

you literally just posted a video by secular talk, which is a founding member of justice democrats!

so which one is it bob?

do you respect and admire a small group of democrats who are part of independent media and are creating a group to combat the corporate, establishment democrats? a group who is already
growing in size, and have already got some politicians on the ballot?

or are you sticking to your position you took on my justice democrat video, which was dismissive and critical?

please help me understand bob, because as of right now you are playing two positions that are philosophically inconsistent.

*promote bob's support of the democrats new caucus "the justice democrats",which i am fairy sure is the seventh sign of the apocalypse.

This Sums Up Motherhood In 34 Seconds

Esoog says...

Exactly. Not everyone on this earth is meant to be a parent. Just like most things in life, it takes a person with the right personality, skills, traits, whatever, do be a good parent. I'm a father of a 4 year old, and while I think I'm a good dad, I have my flaws. But I knew what I was getting into. While is also why I stopped at 1 kid. He's awesome. (so far) We hit the jackpot, and I'm good with 1 and done.

It drives me crazy when I hear parents of 1, 2, 3, 4+ kids complaining that they never have free time....don't have enough money...bad mouthing their kids...

If that's how you feel, then why did you have kids?! If that's what you wanted, then you need to be all in and don't complain about something you had total control to prevent. "But I got 4 kids!" Well, you know how that happened right?

And don't get me wrong. I'm not judging the lady in this video. It could be short, tongue in cheek humor. I'm talking about people I personally know.
