Sigur Rós - Heima
awsome awsome awsome! i've always wanted to know more about sigur ros... Never really knew much to begin with, just loved the hell out of them. Their music is transcendental, brilliant, beautiful, and powerful. Now if only I had a clue on how to pronounce any of my favorite songs of theirs :-S

Sigur Rós - Heima
great sift! i love em. check out olafur arnalds too, he toured on the 2008 european tour supporting sigur ros and his album 'eulogy for evolution' is pretty amazing too.

Sigur Ros are one of those rare bands that come along every few years - genuinely differnt, genuinely brilliant.
It never ceases to amaze me how the English speaking world generally ignores music that isn't in English, yet somehow bands from Iceland (rightly) get through the shield.
Considering also that pretty much every Icelander speaks perfect English (as all Scandies do!) they choose to sing in Icelandic and are the better for it (IMO)
superb band. I like them a lot!

Sigur Ros? Instavote!
Baby Pictures (History Talk Post)
Holy fuck, KP! I would gladly give you a dozen star points for this alone, if I could. The 'comments' alone are gold.
This was my first sifted clip, and I still absolutely love it. The build-up to the momentous climax (ehehe) electrifies me every time I watch it, even now.
I miss gluonium, who left under bad circumstances, but I also wonder about other sifters (raven, mlx, crittter, oxdottir, to name a few) who just seemingly... disappeared?
Contact Zoom Out from Earth (Sigur Ros)
This is a great video and I love Sigur Ros, i wish their upcoming tour would feature my neck of the woods.
Sigur Ros - The greatest piece of music ever written.......
>> ^volumptuous:
I would think the "greatest piece of music ever written" would contain a lead singer who could, you know, sing. Like, in key.
Perhaps your ears are tuned differently. Celine Dion has pretty perfect pitch...

Roadtrip around Iceland in 2 minutes
What's the soundtrack? Kind of surprised it wasn't Sigur Ros, but then again they're overused these days and even I know at least 5 other great Icelandic groups. And of course, there's no rule they should have used Icelandic music for this. Silly me
Sigur Ros + The Fountain (spoiler warning)
for those who never seen sigur ros live, go do it.....its heavenly....another world....even without drugs!

merci! Your (music) appreciation is appreciated. The Fountain/Sigur Ros sift has made it:)

Ok Eklek, I've not yet told you this but... you rock! Thanks for the promote and the apparent appreciation of good music =D
Sigur Rós - Gobbledigook (NSFW)
I love Sigur Ros, "Glosoli" being my favorite. Full on nudity in videos are usually done for the sake of nudity, buy they did a good job of doing it tastefully in this video.
Upvote.
Sigur Ros - Untitled #1
I agree, this video kicks ass. In fact, most of the sigur ros videos are pretty amazing.
The VideoSift iTunes Game. (Music Talk Post)
Nice to see Shpongle and Infected Mushroom on your list, dsjunkid, hadn't listened to them IN YEARS, literally! And Saint Germain is nothing to be ashamed of, even with their popularity.
So here's my 10 cent:
1. Bear McCreary - Something Dark Is Coming (BSG Season 2)
Dark ambient. One of the best tracks from _the_ best TV series soundtrack ever created, I shit you not. We're off to a great start; McCreary is exactly what I hoped to see on my list.
2. Joke Society - Morphing Morning
From Cafe Del Mar SunSand. Yes, I confess guilty as charged, I'm one of the Cafe Del Mar obsessed.
3. Faithless - We Come One
4. Awake On A Train - Múm
Their 2000 "Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today Is OK" is one of the best albums in the world, period. This masterpiece of theirs is even better than Sigur Ros (they're both icelandic). We're doing a lot better than I expected.
5. Obstacle 1 - Interpol
Again, "Turn On The Bright Lights" was one hell of an album. Thank you, people that helped me sift some of their stuff. This is indie rock at its best.
6. Ace Of Spades - Motörhead
7. Evergreen (Dusted Remix) - Faithless
From Hed Kandi's Winter Chill 3, this is one of my favorite lounge/chillout tracks of all time. Excellent mix, too, a lot better than original, which is definitely saying something.
8. Jumbo - Underworld
9. All Along The Watchtower - Bear McCreary (BSG Season 3)
Best modern cover of this masterpiece. A tune of harps and sitar pave the way for a surprisingly powerful progressive guitar. I strongly suggest you google/youtube it.
10. Knights of Cydonia - Muse
Well, I must say, I never expected this to turn out as well as it did. Thank you, trusty shuffle, I may now actually use more of you in the future. And thanks for starting this experiment, dft
